The new Van Halen album has been mixed and is now one final step away from being ready for release, according to the Van Halen News Desk. With mixing started in July and completed last month, the finished record will now be mastered sometime in mid-September and will be ready for packaging, publicity and distribution by the end of this month. There is, however, still no release date and still no official confirmation from the band or its representatives that a new album is even coming out.
Van Halen News Desk is the largest fan-operated Van Halen news site and seems to have been acting as an unofficial mouthpiece for the group's organization in recent months.
The official Van Halen website remains locked down with simply a logo on the front page and no other information available. The most recent post on the band's Facebook and Twitter accounts is dated June of 2010, while its MySpace page was last updated in December 2009.
Van Halen was supposed to appear on an Australian festival tour later this month, but that tour was canceled amid rumors that the band had pulled out.
Speculation about a single arriving last month proved untrue, while alleged album and song titles continue to float around online.
The new disc will be the first full-length effort with original singer David Lee Roth in 27 years and first all-new Van Halen offering since 1998.
