….On The Road Again.

May 8th, 2008 by Larry Wilson

As I look out the window of the control room, I check  my watch.  In a few hours I will officially begin my vacation.  Shortly I will be loading up for a few days with my “white trash” friends for Bike Week in Myrtle Beach.  The weather looks spotty but what the hell.

During my time off, Chuck “the weekend guy” Hamilton will be filling in and doing his typically fine job.  I will return to the air Tuesday.  Just think a handful of days of NOT getting up around 4am.  Works for me

PETA Suffers from Hoof n Mouth

May 6th, 2008 by Larry Wilson

A terrible situation followed the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby Saturday.  By now I’m sure you know the 2nd place horse had to be destroyed after BOTH of her ankles snapped.

After watching the video of the that beautiful animal crashing to the ground I couldn’t tell you who won, by how much, etc.  The loss was too great and the cause too bizarre.

The dust had barely settled when a spokesperson for PETA, jumped up and called for the suspension of the jockey.  It seems they think HE  is responsible for the injuries.  I am far from being an expert on equine issues, but the video tape clearly showed no problems for a number of yards after the end of the race.  PETA,  an organization that thrives on publicity, took a quick look around and saw a tragedy, someone they could victimize (the jockey), and an opportunity to insert themselves in the media spotlight.

Shameful.

cinco de mayo

May 5th, 2008 by Larry Wilson

Great googly moogly!!  Its Cinco de Mayo!

The upstate will be basking in the glow of the only recogonized holiday that encourages the entire hispanic population to get drunk and hit the roads.  Add to that 1/5th of the local gringos will be getting tanked as well.

To celebrate this very special “transplanted holiday”, If you are accompanied by an illegal alien you will receive a free lunch at any of the upstate’s  9, 327 Mexican restaurants.

Just think, there is a great possibility that NO landscaping will be done today.
Compound that with the fact the NO sheet rock will be hung as a result of this celebration.

How’s that sarcasm detector working for you today? :)

Yet another cultural contribution.

Now….Lets go to the video tape!!!

Well kids, in the past I’ve made reference to the gibberish gushed from Paula Abdul.  Last night was a sterling example.

Then there’s the story of a 7 year old boy in Flordia that snatched the key to his grandmothers Dodge Durango for a spin.  Now I understand kids will do stuff, and I don’t think beating kids is a good idea…..but in this case I’ll make an exception.  He seems more bothered than sorry.

Random Thoughts from a Cluttered Mind

April 28th, 2008 by Larry Wilson

Why is it called “Dancing with the Stars” when I’ve heard of so few of the “Stars”?

Last week was the 1st anniversary of the Virgina Tech massacare. I remember doing the news the days after and trying to understand why the nutsack felt the need to kill so many.  Now I see where the university has paid each family a large sum of money to avoid being sued.  I feel for the familes that lost thier kids, but why in the world would assume the school was responsible for that guy going nuts?

Hilary Clinton is running commericals for the N.C. Primary.  She laments the rising cost of gas and explains how she will lower the cost.  She will spend $130 BILLON in research for alternative fuels.  Thats right, she is willing to take $130 BILLION dollars today so you MIGHT get a slightly lower gas bill in 20 years.  and you folk in the Democratic party wonder why she is losing to a guy with 3 yrs experience in the U.S. Senate and no track record.

John McCain ame out with a unique suggestion to lowering the cost of gas TODAY, not 20 years from now.  He wants to suspend the Federal Gas Tas for the summer.  That equates to over 12 cents per gallon…..today.  It would positiviely impact the economy with travel, meals, etc but it does have one
